
The Tempe Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance with identifying 2 suspects responsible for laptop thefts (and an assault) at two Tempe Starbucks coffee shops back on January 9, 2015.
In the first incident a little after 3 p.m., a male suspect grabbed a laptop from a male juvenile victim who was walking from the Starbucks to a neighboring business at 1801 E. Guadalupe Road. With the assistance of nearby witnesses, the suspect was chased however could not be apprehended. During the incident, the suspect assaulted one of the witnesses who was trying to detain him; he ultimately dropped the laptop and the victim was able to retrieve his property. The witness who was assaulted sustained minor injuries.
In the second incident – later that day at 4 p.m. – 2 male suspects believed to be involved in the first incident, went to the Starbucks located at 4475 S. Rural Road. The suspects entered the business – one placed an order and paid with cash, while the other paced in the store. Shortly thereafter, one suspect grabbed a laptop from a table which was being used by an adult female victim and both suspects fled the store; ultimately getting into a silver 1999-2004 Ford Mustang.
Suspect #1:
Light skinned Hispanic male (or dark skinned Caucasian male), mid to late teens, 5’5” in height, 120-130 lbs. with a slim build and short dark hair, last seen wearing a grey t-shirt with an unknown design (possibly Bob Marley), blue jeans (or light colored pants), black and white Converse sneakers.
Suspect #2
Light skinned Hispanic male (or Caucasian male), mid to late teens, 5’8”-6’0” in height, 140-160 lbs. with a slim build and short dark hair, last seen wearing a grey sweatshirt (possibly says Chicago), dark pants, and white Converse sneakers.
