Public Invited Fort Huachuca POW/MIA Ceremony

Fort Huachuca will host today a Remembrance Ceremony in honor of POW/MIA Recognition Day to honor all Prisoners of War and personnel still Missing in Action.

The ceremony will be held at 4 p.m., Friday on Brown Parade Field here. The public is invited to joins us in honoring the service and sacrifices of our POW/MIAs and their loved ones.

The commanding general of the U.S. Army Intelligence Center of Excellence and Fort Huachuca Maj. Gen. Scott Berrier will speak at the event. After his remarks, the Colors will be retired and retreat will be played.

Attendees will have the opportunity to walk through and read a display of posters highlighting the stories of POWs.
National POW/MIA Recognition Day observances are traditionally held on the third Friday of September on military installations, ships at sea, state capitols, schools and veterans’ facilities. This observance is one of six days throughout the year that Congress has mandated the flying of the National League of Families’ POW/MIA flag.

Visitors without a DoD-issued ID card, must stop at the Van Deman Gate to obtain a visitors’ pass. Everyone over age 16 must present a government-issued ID card, fill out the form for the pass and undergo a background check at the Visitors’ Control Center. Drivers must also have proof of insurance and the vehicle registration with them.
