Southeastern Arizona DUI Task Force Conducts Weekend Covert Underage Buyers (CUBS) Detail in the Sierra Vista Area
On Saturday April 16, 2016 the Southeastern Arizona DUI Task Force initiated a detail to determine if businesses would sell alcohol to minors.
The efforts of the Southeastern Arizona DUI Task Force resulted in the following enforcement activity:
There were twenty seven (27) business establishments targeted for the detail which consisted of both on sale and off sale liquor licenses. The businesses were selected based on previous enforcement of liquor violations, complaints from citizens and other factors.
During the course of the operation within the Sierra Vista, Hereford, and Palominas areas, there were three (3) teams of Sierra Vista Police Officers/Cochise County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and six (6) underage minors utilized.
The following businesses sold alcohol to the minor CUBs and were appropriately charged:
1. Sunset Grill (Windemere Hotel) 2047 S. Hwy 92 Sierra Vista, AZ
2. Applebee’s 3899 El Mercado Loop Sierra Vista, AZ
3. Little General Chevron 1860 S. Hwy 92 Sierra Vista, AZ
4. Taco Giro Mexican Bar & Grill 2097 E. Fry Blvd. Sierra Vista, AZ
5. Safeway 2190 E. Fry Blvd. Sierra Vista, AZ
6. Valero Corner Store 3999 E. Fry Blvd. Sierra Vista, AZ
The remaining businesses acted appropriately by checking the CUB identification card which clearly indicated he/she was UNDER 21and indicated when the CUB turned 21.
In conclusion, the purpose of this detail is dedicated to the education and enforcement to these businesses reference underage drinkers.
