On Saturday, December 3rd, 2016 at 7:10 a.m. the Pinal County Sheriff’s 9-1-1 Communications Center received a call from a driver reporting a single vehicle rollover accident that occurred on Hannah Road just past Eleven Mile Corner Road. The caller told the dispatcher, he did not witness the accident but drove by it after it had occurred.
When deputies arrived at the accident, they discovered 18-year-old Aaron Armenta of Casa Grande deceased. Armenta had been driving a 1992 Chevy truck.
Sheriff Paul Babeu stated, “PCSO Traffic Deputies responded and took over the investigation. They were able to determine that Armenta had left a party in Coolidge to take a friend home in Eloy. On his way back to the party, he drove off the roadway to the left and flipped his truck three times ejecting him from the vehicle. Armenta had been traveling at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle. Witnesses at the party also said that he had been consuming alcohol. Armenta last tried to call his girlfriend at 1:03 a.m. on his way back to the party after dropping off his friend. Deputies believe the accident occurred shortly after the call as he never returned to the party.”
Sheriff Babeu continued, “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Armenta family who lost their son. Tragic accidents like this can be avoided by not drinking and driving. Please encourage family and friends NOT to drink and drive.”
