Crews from KE&G Construction, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will begin work on Helen Street east of Stone Avenue on Friday, January 20, 2017. This work will require the contractor to close Helen Street at Stone Avenue at approximately 5 a.m. The work on Helen Street is scheduled to be complete by Monday, February 6, 2017. The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances.
This work is part of the Stone Avenue – Drachman Street to First Street Roadway Improvement Project that began in June 2016. Improvements include new underground water lines and landscape irrigation, as well as a new underground drainage structure at Stone Avenue and Mabel Street. The project will also include new median islands, curbs, sidewalks with curb access ramps, driveways, street lighting, traffic signals, bus pullouts and a new asphalt roadway. The project is scheduled to be complete in April 2017.
The traveling public can expect delays when driving, bicycling or walking in this work area. Please obey all traffic control signs and watch for construction personnel and equipment in the work zone.
