Tucson men arrested for copper theft

Tucson Police Department officers conducted in which has resulted in the arrests of two men Sean Heinemann, 39 years old, and Thomas Boscia, 33 years old. Each was charged with felonies related to the theft of an estimated several hundred pounds of insulated copper wiring from a local retail building under construction.

On April 2, 2012, TPD officers responded to a concerned citizen’s call reporting suspicious activity occurring behind the shopping center, located in the 6300 block of East Broadway Boulevard. The responding officers observed a pickup and a sport-utility vehicle leaving the business lot and conducted traffic stops on each of the vehicles.

During their contact, officers observed a significant quantity of insulated copper wiring in the bed of the pickup, along with items identified as those commonly used for stealing metal and wiring, in both vehicles. Further investigation revealed the subjects had cut through the security fence surrounding the businesses that are currently being renovated. They proceeded to extract the wiring, which was accessed through an electrical panel box.
