Now, in an effort to make sure that the federal shutdown affects as many people as possible, the federal government has rejected the state of Arizona’s offer to pay to keep the Grand Canyon open.
The refusal is expected to impact Arizona’s economic health.
Park officials rejected the offer saying that as long as the federal government remains shut down, such a plan isn’t an option, according to KGUN 9 News.
KGUN reports that the shutdown that began Tuesday has led to furloughs for about 2,200 people who work at the Grand Canyon National Park and its hotels.
