On the evening of Saturday, May 24th, 2014 a Pinal County Sheriff’s deputy was on patrol when he observed 3 males walking across Sunland Gin Road near “Nico’s Restaurant” in Arizona City. The deputy recognized two of the juveniles and knew PCSO Criminal Investigations Bureau detectives wanted them for questioning regarding several recent residential burglaries.

The deputy stopped and spoke with Jesse Samano, age 16, of Arizona City, Kenneth Mosley, age 17, of Arizona City, and the third juvenile. The deputy confirmed by phone that Jesse and Kenneth were wanted by detectives for questioning regarding several recent residential burglary cases. The detective informed the deputy there was probable cause to arrest Jesse and Kenneth for burglary charges. Both were taken into custody and transported to the PCSO Arizona City Substation.

Jesse Samano was questioned with his mother present. Jesse admitted to committing the burglaries and confirmed that Kenneth Mosley committed the burglaries with him. A juvenile referral was completed for burglary charges and he was released to his mother.

The deputy then brought Kenneth Mosley in for questioning. Before questioning began, his mother Sanqusia Johnson, age 37, of Arizona City, and her boyfriend Genaire Roberts, age 42, of Arizona City, arrived at the Arizona City Substation. From the very onset of conversations, both were belligerent and confrontational with the deputies and sergeant.

Sanqusia began by stating, “That’s my f___ing son you can’t arrest him he’s only 17 year old.” While deputies were trying to conduct their interview with Kenneth, Sanqusia kept yelling and finally the deputy stopped the interview and told her they were done and Kenneth was going to be charged with burglary.

As the deputy was walking Kenneth out of the room, Sanqusia came charging after them and had to be restrained by a sergeant. Sanqusia turned and struck the sergeant in his face with her left hand. The sergeant then attempted to take her into custody but she continued to physically struggle and tried to break free. While trying to take Sanqusia into custody, Genaire Roberts grabbed onto her to prevent the sergeant from handcuffing her. Both Sanqusia and Genaire were then taken into custody.

Sanqusia was booked into the Pinal County Jail for Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, Disorderly Conduct and Obstruction of a Governmental Operation. Genaire was cited and released for Obstruction of a Governmental Operation. A juvenile referral was completed on Kenneth Mosley for burglary charges.

Sheriff Paul Babeu stated, “The potential for law enforcement to be assaulted, injured or killed in the line of duty is a reality for all members of our chosen profession. Sanqusia struck a PCSO sergeant in the face after she saw that her son was being arrested for burglary. Afterwards, her boyfriend told a deputy when she acts like that at home; he just leaves until she calms down. Nobody has the right to assault a member of law enforcement while they are acting in the performance of their duties. Sanqusia will now have to answer for her actions through the court system.”
