Tucson pedestrian killed after stepping in front of car

On Thursday March 12, 2015, just before 9:00 p.m., Tucson Police Department officers responded to a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian. The collision occurred on North Kolb Road near East Rosewood Street. Tucson Fire responded to assist, however, the pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Detectives from the Tucson Police Department’s Traffic Unit responded to continue the investigation. They were able to determine that a 1999 Toyota Camry was northbound on Kolb Road in the median lane. As the vehicle passed East Rosewood Street, an adult male pedestrian stepped off of the median and into the roadway, where he was struck by the vehicle. The pedestrian was not in a crosswalk. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and was not cited.

Speed does not appear to be a factor in the collision.

At this time, the pedestrian’s name is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
