Five people were killed in a deadly head-on crash On the Hunt Highway east of Dobson Road south of Sun Lakes on Sunday night.
The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office said that the collision happened at about 8 p.m. It was necessary to close nearly a mile-long stretch of Hunt Highway between Dobson and Alma School for most of the night.
4 of the five people involved in the accident were confirmed dead on scene, a fifth person was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries and died later.
Officer Chris Hegsterom was finally able to release the names late Monday afternoon of the five deceased victims.
The victims in one vehicle were:
- 86-year-old Frank Hooper,
- 85-year-old Ella Hooper,
- 65-year-old Steven Hooper
- 56-year-old Janice Mertens
The second vehicle was driven by 32-year-old Secundino Fabela.
It has not yet been determined if speed and alcohol were factors in this accident.
