Tucson man arrested for abuse of 4 year old

In the evening hours of October 16, 2012, personnel from the Tucson Fire Department responded to an apartment complex in the 8200 Block of East Golf Links Road in reference to a four your old boy experiencing seizure like symptoms. The child was transported to a local area hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Hospital staff notified the Tucson Police Department after detecting physical signs of abuse on the child, to include severe head injuries and burns to the hands.

Tucson Police Department officers as well as detectives from the Dependent Child Unit responded to investigate. Detectives learned that on Monday, October 15, 2012, the mother left the child in the care of the live-in boyfriend, 23-year old Jacob Fimbres. When the mother arrived home, she noticed some bruising on the child’s body.

Mr. Fimbres advised the mother that the child had fallen against a table while walking. On Tuesday, October 16, 2012, the child was again left in the care of Mr. Fimbres. During that time, the call was made to 911 in reference to the child experiencing seizure like symptoms. Detectives determined that that Mr. Fimbres alone had care and custody of the child when the injuries occurred. The injuries to the child are not consistent with Mr. Fimbres account of what occurred.

Mr. Fimbres was booked into the Pima County Jail for three counts of Child Abuse. The child remains in critical condition at a local area hospital.
