On August 3, 2013 at 10:12 p.m., Tucson Police Department officers responded to a report of a collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle in the area of East Grant Road and North Avenida El Capitan. Upon arrival, officers located a 47-year old male pedestrian with life-threatening injuries as a result of a collision.
The pedestrian was transported to a local area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries shortly after his arrival. The driver of the vehicle involved was not injured.
Detectives determined that a 1995 Toyota Tacoma was traveling eastbound on Grant Road in the inside lane. The pedestrian was crossing Grant Road from the south side of the road to the north, diagonally, in a northeasterly direction. The Toyota Tacoma struck the pedestrian, who was not in a crosswalk and was wearing dark clothing. Detectives determined that the Toyota Tacoma was traveling at approximately the posted speed limit. The name of the pedestrian is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.
